Fulford Harbour on Salt Spring Island

Early morning in Fulford Harbour
Early morning in Fulford Harbour

Fulford Village on Salt Spring Island is home to one of the island’s ferry terminals, a small private marina and a handful of fun, eclectic shops.

The surrounding residential village is barely visible as you pass through on the main road.

Most of the homes are tucked in behind the forefront of stores and other businesses that occupy the heritage buildings (formerly homes) lining the road.

This page has details on what can be found in and around Fulford.

Ferry Terminal

BC Ferries has a terminal in Fulford Harbour with regular sailings to and from Swartz Bay on Vancouver Island.

There is no fee for leaving Saltspring on this ferry. It is a small vessel though, and the lineup can get backed up for a long way. So arrive early for your sailing to ensure you get on your at intended time.

Fulford Marina
There was a public marina located on the east side of the harbour, very near the ferry terminal. However, due to recurring storm damage, the Fulford Marina is currently closed. See our Gulf Islands Sailing page for details on the other Salt Spring Island marinas.

Vessels sailing in for a short stay can set anchor on the west side of Fulford Harbour, out of the path of the ferry, which makes regular trips in and out of the harbour.

Public transit is waiting at the ferry terminal at all sailings. The bus will take you along the Fulford/Ganges Rd all the way into Ganges Village where you can transfer to continue toward Long Harbour, Vesuvius or Fernwood.

A meal at award winning Rock Salt Restaurant is one of the highlights of a visit to Fulford. They have a diverse menu with a focus on organic, locally grown foods. Sit down for a full restaurant meal or breeze through the bakery/deli area and grab something quick. It’s all delicious and surprisingly affordable for food of this caliber.

The Mercantile store carries basic groceries and necessities as well as some baked goods.

Saturdays tend to be the quiet day in Fulford during the summer, which makes it a great day to visit the village for some shopping! Enjoy a browse through the fun, eclectic shop.
