Up for some BC golf, surrounded by ocean and rainforest?
Salt Spring Island has two 9-hole golf courses, each vastly different from the other.
Here's a brief look at the features of each course...

A unique BC golf experience, beautiful, lush Blackburn Meadows is Canada's #1 organic golf course, established in 1992.
It's a 9-hole, par 32 course with five par 4's and four par 3 holes and a 200 yard driving range, built around tranquil Blackburn Lake.
Blackburn Meadows is maintained using only organic methods. This principle makes for a fun and challenging golfing experience.
The rough is thick and unruly, ready to swallow up your ball (so try to keep it on the fairway!). Each hole is bordered by massive trees and thick brush. Wildlife abounds, which is evident from the bounty of deer droppings in the rough.
Open from March through October, Blackburn is a great place for families to golf, or those with less experience. Although the unforgiving landscape makes it challenging for seasoned golfers as well.
No matter what your experience level though, if you plan on indulging in a round at this course, bring lots of balls!

This par 36 course was established in 1928. Two holes are par 5's, two are par 3's and five are par 4's. There's also a 250 yard driving range.
Salt Spring G&CC is open year-round, although it can get a bit wet in the rainy winter months. The locals simply don their 'mudders' (one of my husband's first purchases after moving here) and slog their way through.
This course is the more challenging of the two on Salt Spring Island. The rolling terrain can make a formidable opponent out of even the shortest holes.
Stop in at the Falconshead Grill & Bar above the clubhouse for a meal and/or beverage any time of day. They're open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
